A TOUCH OF ROMANCE ~ TABLESCAPE

I found these dishes on EBay awhile ago and feel in love with them the minute I first saw them.

The lovely shade of a light aqua blue rim and the beautiful flowers are a perfect match for me.

They are from the 1940's. I have a set of 10 and I love to think about all the wonderful meals served on these dishes.

Using accents of pearls and lace gave this Tablescape a Touch of Romance to it.

I used this blue candle in my Sea Side Tablescape and I really liked the way the pearls looked wrapped around the bottom. So, I put this candle and it's pearls in my bathroom.

Then when I was doing this Tablescape I knew it would be perfect to use the candle again as the blue goes great with the plates and I was using pearl napkin rings.

The tablecloth is a vintage linen and lace one that I found in an antique store a few years ago. It's actually the first time I have ever used it.

The napkins are hand made lace trimmed napkins that I got at a thrift store. I know they are hand made because the lady I bought them from was the one who brought them in. She said her neighbor made them and then donated them to the thrift store.

The color of the plates seem to change as the shadows and sunlight shine in different ways on them.

Sometimes they photographed a brighter blue and sometimes they look almost like a pale grey.

The top color of the bowl is the actual color. It is such a pretty shade of aqua blue. The plate is the same color as the bowl. Though for some reason it looks super light in this photo.

The bowls and plates are by the same maker but are actually a different set. If you look at the photo above, notice the bouquet of flowers. The go back to the photo of the bowl and you will see the flowers are different.

The little bread plate is the same pattern as the bowls. But, I think they all go perfect together.

The weather has been so pretty out the past few days. So, I decided to set the table outside in the garden area with all the flowers blooming.

I hope you enjoyed this little touch of romance as much as I do.

If you have not yet gone to Between Naps on the Porch and read through all the great Tablescape Thursday posts, you really must. There are so many great posts to read and dream about.

Lovely and elegant! I agree -- it's fun to imagine all the meals served on vintage china and the hostesses who enjoyed setting their special tables in the past. Yours is a really lovely pattern.

Hi,
this plates with the bouquets and aqua are really exquisite. The different bouquets for plates and bowls are made like handpainted porcelain. They show often different bouquets for each plate. The luster of the pearls complements the fresh impression of the color Aqua. That's a brillant idea with the pearls around the candle. And the lace ornaments of the tablecloth are made in the technique "Occhi". I have seen such lacework often in Italy.
Greetings, Johanna

My very next tablescape will have pearls around the candles!! What a great idea -- and the pearls go so well with the soothing aqua. Those plates were a find, and you're lucky to have a set of 10. What a nice thought to have -- about all the wonderful meals those plates have seen. I like that! Thanks for a very beautiful tablescape.
