It seems like more and more, people are decorating outside their house for Halloween.

They start decorating weeks before Halloween, just like they do for Christmas.

With special effects, lights and sounds that turn their houses into creepy, spooky and haunted looking homes.

Some don't even look like homes any more. They have been turned into cemeteries.

The blow ups are getting bigger and bigger and way more exciting then those little ones from the past.

Some houses are lite up with so many strands of lights it makes you check your calendar to see what month we are in.

Many people make their own decorations.

Some people combine all sorts of items and themes.

Some are almost to scary to walk up to in order to get your candy.

Some are cute, even if they try to be scary.

Playing on ones fears of spiders, ghosts and witches are often seen.

I think it would be fun to do something like this. Then dress up like a witch, stand still until they walk by you then scare them. I would only do this to the older kids.

I bet the the glow from this house can be seen from down the street.

Someone must really love pumpkins!

Growing up, we never saw anything in the yards, other then a few toothless smiling pumpkins.

Now it's fun just to walk or even drive around the neighborhood to see all the fun decorations.

Sure, some may be over the top. But, with a holiday like Halloween, is there really such a thing as over the top? I say, no. Bring it on!

I know more and more people are decorating BIG TIME for Halloween. And it's alot of fun to see houses all decked out. Others might just set out a pumpkin or two on the front porch and call it "Good". I guess my style falls somewhere in between, but I sure enjoy working on it. This is the week I have set aside to layer in the Halloween decorations over the Fall items I already have out and try to "blend the seams" so it all works together. I hope you will be posting photos of your Halloween house!

I had to smile and your comment about suddenly MOVING. That really does startle people. My crazy son does it every year and he gets so tickled...

Goodness! Those are some pretty spectacular examples! I have to say I'm a bit old-fashioned and like the simple Halloween decorations, but these are amazing to look at!
