Maybe it is the hope that when I put these on, I too will become a "Susie Homemaker" or "Martha Stewart".
I won these darling aprons on eBay and they just came in the mail today so I thought I would share them with you. I have a lot more but they are in storage right now. Maybe someday I'll get them out and show you.
Isn't this a darling one! I love to wear the full big aprons the most as I'm a pretty messy cook!
This pretty purple rose one would put a smile on any girls face as she put it on.
This one and the one below are vintage Victorian/Edwardian aprons that are handmade.
Now if that doesn't conjure up great stories I don't know what would.
This one has beautiful fine lace sewn into it.
This one is so cheerful and bright. I love it.
This one that reminds me one that would be an everyday type apron the ladies would wear in the '50's.
I think this one was a souvenir one. It has ladies all dressed up in there native style dresses.
This one is also home made and has a sweet little tea pot embroidered on it. There are not ties to the neck area though. The seller thought the women would just pin it on to their clothes. I think some ties need to be put on it.
Now, I have a question for you. Some vintage linens have spots or stains on them. I know several of you have ways to get these out. So, would you share your tips and ideas. What kind of soap do you use? Do you starch your linens? Do you let them sit out in the sun to bleach out whites?
There are all kinds of hints and tips for linens and I would love if we could share the ones you have tried and that worked here.

I love aprons too, I am so glad they are back in style so to speak.
Your cowgirl party sounds fun, horse shoes should be easy to find-if you have any horse friends they probably have some old ones or call a local blacksmith and they are usually happy to get rid of them. If you can't find any-I'll just send you some. Just spray paint them and add a few beads and wala your'e done.

I use Borax, wetted down in a paste, then a toothbrush to rub it in...this may not work on the colored ones though, be careful and test a spot first! I have gotten some pretty ugly stains out of vintage tablecloths this way.
I love aprons and wear them all the time when I cook and do housework. I got one in May from an etsy seller, it is gorgeous, almost like a dress, I feel beautiful when I am cooking in it!

I have had an apron fetish since reading Confessions of an Apron Queen... and have been searching for an apron to find in a store. No such luck, so I turned to Ebay. I just bought a closetful, and am waiting patiently for them to come! Ill send you a pic when they do come!
I know no tips on cleaning...could you share some of yours with me?
I too love the older aprons. My mother use to wear one all day long. You'd find all types of things in her pockets. Things she picked up along the way of cleaning house. I have a lot of hers that she had. But never found the one she use to wear all the time.

You sure have a lovely collection of aprons!! I like the full aprons a lot as they cover more.
As far as cleaning, here is what I do...
Get a large stock pot. Fill with water and add 1/4 cup Oxy Clean. Stir till dissolved. Add one or two pieces. If the item is large, only add the one piece (ie: tablecloth). Turn the stove on High and let the pot of water, soap and the linen come to a boil. Don't leave the room cause you will find a mess if you let it boil over. Reduce to simmer and gently stir occassionaly. Your water may end up really yellow and that is from the stains coming out. Two soakings may be needed to get tough stains out. I cook my linens for 6-8 hours. Check the water periodically to make sure there is plenty in the pot.
I hand rinse my items and let them dry in the sunshine.
NOTE recommended for items with red fabrics, red threads, etc. The reds will bleed.

I use SpotShot ~ it comes in a spray can ~ I buy it at Lowe's. Spray it on, let it set a minute or so, dab off...and spot should (and most times is) be gone!!

I use oxy clean, but I don't cook mine. I put in a tub and sit them in my extra bathroom in the tub. Go in there daily and give them a tumble in the mixture. In about a week the spots are gone.
They stay if you starch items and put them in storage, that is what brings silverfish to them.
Not sure on that, but I was told that one because of storing quilts.

Nice collection of aprons. I have tried using borax/shout on the spot, scrub and add it to a tub of soapy water, set over night. Sometimes it works, not always. I have some vintage linens and have removed spots that way. Then wash as usual. Hope that helps.Warmly,Deb

i love vintage aprons, too! i have about 12 of them so far. i have only bought one with stains...it was too pretty to pass up. i soaked it in warm water mixed with about a cup of baking soda for a few hours. the stains were gone...as well as the musty smell it had. i hung it on the clothesline to dry. doesn't hurt to try!

I hang the aprons in the sun. Usually in a few days the yellow spots are gone. Also use an Oxy soak in the tub. Or lemon juice, sun and salt on whites. Or wash them and lay them wet on green grass (when I had grass)!. The chlorophyll and sun work wonders. Borax is excellent too.

Great aprons Joanne! I love full aprons, the first one is my fav!!
I use powdered clorox with dishwasher detergent (the dry stuff)in cold water. I let them soak all day in the sink, stiring them around periodically.
As someone else said you have to be careful with some dark colored fabrics (red, black, purple) as the colors will bleed. I've tried lots of other concoctions...I like this best. I've never tried boiling tho.
I love your aprons. What a great collection. I use Lestoil to get out tough old stains. It smells but works on just about anything. Good Luck!

oh- and my mom usually uses "Shout" which is a laundry and stain remover. It works really well. All you do is put water on the stain, spray, and then throw it into the wash. quite easy (;
