MY TABLE MAKEOVER

Don't you love all the fun weekly parties here in blogland? I don't normally get to sign up with them. Well, except for Tablescape Thursday.

But, this week, I'm joining in on the fun for Frugal Fridays over at The Shabby Nest. If you have not yet been over there, I recommend you hop on over and see what everyone came up with. Some great posts!

I redid my dinning table and chairs. I figured that counted as "frugal" as it was much less costly then buying a whole new set.

This is how our table looks now. I don't have the leafs in it though. I took them out for my Cinco de Mayo dinner since there were only going to be four of us.

This is what it looked like in the before state. I hated it. It was that light whitewash look wood. With a cream color material on the seats.

It was very sturdy and made from solid wood so, rather then just toss it out and get a new one, I thought I would try to make it over and see if it was any better.

I got my lessons from several other bloggers who repaint furniture all the time. Went to the store (good ol' Home Depo) and got the supplies. Then got to work.

Sanding, painting and reupholstering.

It took a lot longer then I thought it would and it was more work then I ever dreamed it would be. Yet, I am happy I did it. I really like it.

I couldn't decide on what kind of fabric to use for the seats but I finally settled on the black and cream strips. It brings in the colors of kitchens cabinets and black counter tops.

We have a great discount material store near me and they have name brand material for pennies on the dollar.

I got this material for only $3.00 a yard. Can't beat that. It's nice and heavy too and should last for years.

So, while it's not the best set in the world, it is a lot better then what we had before.

Now I have to do the china hutch. That's going to be a killer!
