A BOOO-TIFUL HALLOWEEN PARTY

Martha wants to invite you to her 2013 Halloween party.  It is going to be a Boo~tiful time.

The bats are flying overhead to show you the way.

She has a few of her silver pet spiders.  They won't bother you though...as long as you don't bother them.

The table is set with midnight black table cloth.  On top of that is a silver/glittered spider place mat.  A jet black plate is next and one of Martha's dear friends lent a hand and is holding the place cards so everyone knows where to sit.

Martha made little candy boxes to sit at each place sitting.  These were made with boxes purchased at The Dollar Tree.  A post about how they were made will be coming up in the next day or two.

These boxes were filled with Hershey Kisses.  The silver wrapped chocolate went perfectly with her theme colors.

As another little treat to take home, each guest gets a black/glitter bag filled with homemade Candy Corn/White Chocolate bark.

In person you can't really see through the bags as much as the photograph make it seem.

Martha is forever looking for a great deal.  While she was Michael's Craft store, months ago, she came across these bags in the clearance bin.  She got them for only 50 cents!  Not bad.

The cute silver spider not only makes the bags look cute, but they can also be turned into a necklace by putting a chain or ribbon though it.  They were purchased on line from eBay.

The candy corn bark was super easy to make.  Just get white chocolate, melt it and stir in candy corn.  Poor onto a parchment line cookie sheet and spread it thin.  Then sprinkle more candy can and let set.

Once it is hardened just break up into smaller pieces, put in a bag and you are done.

Did you notice the sweet little coffins at each place setting?  These got blinged up a bit by putting some rhinestones on them and then filling them up with the best tasting bones.

Yes, you heard that right.  These bones taste great.  They are super easy to make, taste great and are perfect to go inside a coffin.

I'll do a post on how to make them shortly.

If you don't have little coffins to fill, they still look cute piled up in a dish.

White Martha really didn't start out with the theme of spiders in mind, it seems like her little pets crawled in her ear and kept whispering "silver spiders, silver spiders" because they kept showing up everywhere.

Even the glasses had a lovely silver spider web with a sparkly spider made out of rhinestones.  They were found at TJ Maxx.

This photograph does not do these glasses justice.  They are very pretty in person and only cost $3.99 each.  What a bargain!

The last little item to point out is the silver skeletons.  They sat on top of the napkins.  These were from the Dollar Tree.  They were actually tied together as a garland.  But, when you cut them apart, spray paint them silver, they look so much prettier.

Oh I almost forgot, a few little tomb stones that were also found at the Dollar Tree finished out the final touches.

I hope you enjoyed this years Halloween party.  It's time to get started on planning next years now.

FUN HALLOWEEN IDEAS TO COPY

I'm already planning on what to do for Halloween.  I know, I'm always looking forward to the next holiday and not enjoying the holiday that is right upon us.  Oh well.  What can I say?

I saw some things while I was out shopping that I thought would be easy to copy.  So, I wanted to share them with you.

When I saw this display, at Debra's Cottage, I just fell in love with it.   I love how it's so CA.   I mean really, who thinks of the beach at Halloween time?

How about making a spider out of a light bulb!  This one can be found at Rogers Gardens but I'm sure several of you out there in blogland could make up your own spiders that are just as nice.

If you do, you can always take a wire basket that normally holds plants and use it as the spider web.

How about taking some jars and adding a pumpkin on top?  You could even get the etching cream and write Happy Halloween or Trick or Treat on the glass part.
Or use those bottles and jars to create your own scary looking bottles.
How about taking one of those hairy spiders that are being sold everywhere and put it in a box with some moss.  Cut out the top of the box and put some clear plastic on it.

Now you have your own scary box.

If that is to much work for you then this one may be better.  Get a skull and add glitter to it.  Glue it to the top of a box that you have added some moss to.   Use stickers to spell out Halloween or whatever you want.

They would make a great little gift box or look super on a tablescape at each setting with a little favor in them.

I love these pumpkins and think they add a touch of elegance to any Halloween party.  You can buy a faux pumpkin and then add the gem swirls that you can find over in the scrap booking section.

For those of you who like just a touch of Halloween, you can always add a few pumpkins to your plants.

Here is another easy item to copy.  Go to the Dollar Tree or 99 cent store and get a notebook.  Cover it with scrapbook paper then decorate it with vintage Halloween pictures and some ribbon.

You could make each notebook look the same or different.  They could be made with the smaller notebooks too.  Those would also make darling favors if you are having a party or dinner guest over.

I hope you have seen how easy it would be to make some of the expensive items you see.  You really don't have to spend a lot of money to have a high cost look.

However, if you don't have the desire to make your own items they are always out there for you to buy.

So tell me, are you excited about Halloween too?

HALLOWEEN CRAFTS

I can't believe I'm dreaming of Halloween already. Where did this year go to?

I was looking around on line and found some darling items. However, the prices are not darling!

I think these would be so easy to make and I think I'm going to give it a try this year.

I love these pumpkins! They are so pretty. They would look great no matter what your decor was this year. Spooky, vintage, elegant or even as quiet touches of Halloween.

You can purchase these for $195 at Horchow or you could go to the craft store and pick up some black embellishments for a few dollars and stick them on your own real or fake pumpkin.

I'm going to make these with the fake pumpkins so I can keep them for years to come.

This would be darling on any Halloween table. I love the bones in between the serving plates and the shinny skull on top.

This is $98 at Horchow which is way to much for me to buy.

Again, I believe for a few dollars you can make this yourself. Get some wooden plates from Home Depo and paint them black. Get some bones from the craft store (or even the dollar store) and spray paint them silver. Glue them to the plates and add a skull that you have painted silver and added glitter to the top and you are set.

I may even drill a hole in the wooded parts and put a dowel down the center to make it more sturdy.

No matter if you buy these or make your own I'm sure they will be the hit of your Halloween decorations.
