THE MANY COLORS OF PUMPKINS

Growing up when someone said the got their pumpkin, you naturally thought of a big orange squash that could be carved into a Jack 'O Lantern.

Not the fancy kinds of carvings that people do now days. It was just the simple triangle for the eyes, an upside down triangle for the nose and then a big smile with a few teeth for the mouth.

But, this is no longer what one thinks of when we think of pumpkins.

Pumpkins now come in so many different colors. It doesn't matter what color your home is decorated in, you can find a pumpkin to match.

Like this blue pumpkin! I've never seen a blue pumpkin in real life but I've seen them in photos.

I'm sure they will get easier and easier to find as the years go on.

How about yellow pumpkins? These would be good here in CA. Since we have the sun shining most of the time this nice sunny yellow color would look great outside with yellow and white flowers.

Of course all you pink lovers will love the pink pumpkins. I've seen these showing up all over now. Like the blue pumpkins, these used to be hard to find.

With pink being so popular now they are selling more and more pink pumpkins.

Cream color pumpkins are also easy to find now.

I can remember when they were hard to find. The first ones that came out didn't sell that great. Now they sell like hot cakes.

It's a bit harder to find the real bright one ones. I think they call these Casper pumpkins.

The red pumpkins are starting to become easier to find too. These are more of the flat squatty kinds of pumpkins. Like the one that was in Cinderella.

In fact, I think they call these Cinderella pumpkins.

They may not look like a true red when you see one alone though. Looks like a deep orange really.

Yet, when they are next to the true orange pumpkins they do look more red.

There are even green pumpkins. I have not seen these before. I don't know if they are really green or just have not yet ripened. I think they are green though.

I like the two toned pumpkins. This green and orange looks so pretty to me.

The stripped ones are also getting easier and easier to find. Though most of the ones I've seen are pretty small pumpkins. Not really for carving.

They sure are pretty though. Mother Nature sure does a nice job of giving us such pretty things to grow in our gardens.

So tell me, what color pumpkins can be found in your house? What color pumpkins are they selling near where you live?

THIS YEAR HAVE A PINK HALLOWEEN!

This post is for all my PINK loving friends out there. As promised, I'm going to show you how you can make your Halloween PINK this year!!

I know you must be thinking there is no way to use PINK for Halloween. Didn't I teach you anything yesterday? Didn't I show you how Autumn didn't have to be gold, red and orange? Well, so why can't Halloween be PINK rather the the normal Black and Orange? It can. Just look:

We already saw yesterday how pumpkins come in pink and if you can't find one then you can paint one pink.

So if you can have a pink pumpkin then why not a pink Jack O Lantern?

You can find cute little pink painted pumpkins on eBay. You can use something like this to put your candy in. So when the Trick or Treaters come just give them some candy from the pink pumpkin.

You can always get out your kids Pink hair Troll Dolls and put a little Halloween costume on it.

We saw these cookies yesterday. But since some of them are for Halloween I thought I would show them again.

Candy can be pink too.

Why not hand out pink candy for Halloween?

You can get a wig and wear pink hair. After all Halloween is all about dressing up.

What? You say you want to be scary but pink hair can't ever be scary. Well, I beg to differ.

This guy has pink hair and is pretty scary to me!

This would be another cute idea to hold your pink candy in.

Even witches can be pink.

I love these kind of witches.

Isn't she darling? I love the pink broom.

Even Barbie is dressed up as a pink witch this year. This one came from eBay.

Dress your dog up for Halloween in a pink costume.

You have lots of cute pink costumes to pink from for the dogs. But I can't promise your dog won't hate you for doing so. This guy doesn't look to happy to be dressed up like a pink pig.

You know you think your little girl dog is a princess. So why not show the world by putting a cute pink princess costume on her.

For all you who sew, you can get pink Halloween material and make throw pillows or quilts to decorate your home with.

Or if you don't want to dress up just make a shirt out something like this.

Yes, you can even get PINK skeletons!

Pink spiders too. You can even spray paint those cheep little rubber spiders pink.

You can buy or make some pretty happy Jack O Lanterns.

Your dolls can be dressed as a pink witch also.

Wouldn't this cute little bear in a a pink skeleton costume be darling on your table.

You can get or make towels for your bathroom or kitchen too.

So you see, Halloween can be pink too.

I know a lot of you don't like to celebrate Halloween. But, maybe if you turn it into a pretty holiday and change the meaning behind it, you too could join in the fun.

I hope I've been able to show you that if you love pink, any day can be a pink day.

OK, truth be told, I won't be having a pink Fall or Halloween either. But, I just wanted to show all you pink lovers that you CAN have your holidays and PINK too.

Hugs,
Joanne

WHO SAYS AUTUMN CAN'T BE PINK?

Yes, Autumn is just around the corner. In fact, several of you are already starting to decorate.

When we think of Fall we think of colors in red, gold, orange and browns.

But I say, why not pink! Yes, you heard me. PINK! I know you are thinking there is no way you can have a pink Autumn. I disagree. I think if you love pink. I mean really LOVE pink, then you can use pink for all the seasons.

OK, I'll prove it to you.

Look at this table. Isn't it pretty! You could even use this on your mantel or coffee table.

Yes, they make pink Fall decorations. Look at this glass pumpkin in pink.

Or, if you are crafty then you can make your decorations. Like these glittery pumpkins. How easy would these be to make.

For you painters, how about a beautiful rose painted pumpkin like this one.

Did you know that pumpkins even come in pink? Well they do.

But if you can't find them you can get out your handy dandy spray paint and turn them from orange to pink in no time.

But really. Look at the pretty pink pumpkins that come from Mother Nature.

I often think of dried Indian corn when I think of Autumn. But again, Indian corn comes in pink. So why not get pink corn rather then the yellow, red or orange corn?

Yes! Mother Nature gives us pink corn. Can you believe it?

The flowers most people think about when they think of Fall is mums.

But mums come in pink too.

In fact, I think the pink mums are the most beautiful mums. Don't you?

Just the site of candy corn makes me think of Fall. So if Fall reminds you of candy corn too, how about pink candy corn?

Berries are another Fall item used to decorate with. Pink berries can be found. Just use them in place of the other berries.

Fruit and nuts coming out of a cornucopia is a beautiful Fall display.

So pretty pink pomegranates would be a great choice.

So would these pink pistachio nuts.

How about making your Autumn cookies pink too.

Of course leaves are one of the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Fall.

There are many trees that have pink leaves. Use them.

Wouldn't these pink leaves be beautiful to decorate with?

So have I convinced you to decorate this Fall in pink? I hope so.

I'm going to give it a shot. I want to make the pink glittery pumpkins. I think I'll look for some pretty pink pumpkin decorations too.

Don't ever let anyone tell you that you have to follow the color rules for holidays. If we girls stick together, we can make every holiday turn PINK!

Come back tomorrow and I'll show you how to have a Pink Halloween.

Hugs,
Joanne
