DREAMGIRLS

My poor sister, Patty, is sick and so she asked me if I would take her ticket to see Dreamgirls tomorrow at the Orange County Preforming Arts.

Well, she didn't have to ask me twice! I would love to go.

I've never seen Dreamgirls on Stage before. Only the movie. I loved the movie so I'm sure I will enjoy the live performance.

It's 2ND row center seats. Can't get any better then that. I'm excited.

The Orange County Performing Arts is a beautiful location and it's only about four blocks from where I live. So I'll walk there and walk home. Sort of makes me feel like I'm in New York.

You see, here in So. California, no one walks anywhere! If it's a block away, people pack into the car and drive.

I found that by walking to the Performing Arts, I get inside and get home in less time then if I drove. With parking always being so bad it takes longer to get in and out of the parking structure. Plus, I hate to pay for parking.

Now I have to go see what I have to wear.

I LEFT MY HEART IN SAN FRANCISCO

Sometimes if we wait long enough we can see our dreams come true. You are never to old to cross off one of your dreams from your list.

Tonight I was able to have a dream come true and now I can cross that one off my list.

Way back in May, it was my birthday, and my dear sister, Patty, got me two tickets to see Tony Bennett.

I know many people think I'm silly for loving him but I do. I always have, for as long as I can remember.

So I was thrilled to get these tickets and tonight it was finally my turn to see my dream come true.

I went with my friend Sandra. You know her, she was the one who had the party I shared with you yesterday. She loves Tony too and since it is her birthday, Patty told me to ask her to go with me.

She was thrilled and was able to get a babysitter to watch her son.

So off to the Orange County Performing Arts Center we went.

We got our program and while we were ready to go see where our seats were the doors were not open yet.

We got a drink and waited out in the lobby. No, I wasn't bad. I had a diet coke. No extra calories for me this night.

Finally it was time to go inside. We found our seats and I was very lucky I had a tiny girl sitting in front of me so my view was great.

I know we are not supposed to take photos but I just had to. I kept the flash off and clicked away.

But, my punishment for breaking the rules was, not one photo came out clear.

The bright spot light they kept on Tony Bennett made his face wash out in every photo.

I must say that this is one singer who sounds just as good in person as he does on a CD or on TV.

His voice is the same today as it has always been. Crisp and clear.
There was even one point where he had the microphone turned off and he sang the whole song without it. You could still hear and understand each and every word.

This man can belt out a song.

This is when he was singing I Left My Heart in San Francisco. My all time favorite song of his.

I was so sad these photos didn't come out.

His daughter opened the night for him by singing four songs. Sadly she does not have the same pitch as her father. She hit so many sour notes that I felt sorry for her.

He did thank everyone for being so nice to his daughter though. I think he knows she doesn't sing that good but it is her dream to be a big star so he gave her a chance to preform in front of an audience.

I couldn't get over all the standing ovations Tony got. It was almost every song that got the crowd clapping madly and standing on their feet.

He even got a standing ovation when he first walked out on stage and had not sang one note yet.

Oh there is his smiling face. I had to use a photo I found on line since none of my photos turned out.

He just seems like such a kind man and so down to earth.
I had a great time tonight. I got to hear a man I love sing in person. It put a smile on face and song in my heart.

Thanks to my dear sister, I had a dream come true tonight. I'm a very lucky girl.
