9/11/2001

I know people have said they would never forget. Yet, as time goes by it seems many are starting to forget. Please don't be one of them.

I live in CA and for the first few years after 9/11 people flew flags from their offices, homes and even their cars. Now not so much.

Every city would hold a memorial on 9/11 to remember all those who lost their life in 2001. Now, not so much.

People were angry and wanted those who dared come to our Country and hurt us to pay. Now, not so much.

I can honestly say, I am one who will never forget. When I see a photo, a headline or a show on TV it's as if it happened yesterday. The emotions and anger are still there.

I searched to find a location near me that had a Tribute to those who died on 9/11. We had a few but not much.

I was thrilled to find a 5K Heroes Run and I signed up, not only myself, but my Girl Scout Troop to volunteer there.

A tiny way to show respect to those who lost their life but, it was the least I could do.

I still look at photos like these and I wonder why. Why would anyone have such hatred for people they never met before.

How could anyone have even thought of something so evil to do.

How can anyone forget?

So many good, kind, loving and wonderful people died or were injured that day.

So many good, kind, loving and wonderful people did all the could help those in need out. Many even gave their own lives while trying to save others.

It was a day true living HEROS were made. Only, if you ask any of them, they will not say they are a hero. They did what came naturally to them.

America was knocked to her knees for a little while. Shocked and in disbelief.

Yet, we quickly got back up, stood tall and remained strong.

We are able to rebuild the buildings. We are able to erect memorials at the sites. Things appear to return to normal again.

Yet, we all know we will never really be the same again. Yes we are stronger in some ways. Yet still so weak in others.

Many people have a hole in their hearts now. Families are left with empty places at the dinner table or on Holiday gatherings.

Some people have tried hard to claim that our government was at fault for what happened. Most of us know better.

There are people who claim a missile shot flight 93 out of the sky and it didn't really crash. That the story of the heroes who did all they could to save the lives of thousands on the ground was a lie.

I say, either way, those people were and will always be HEROS in my eyes.

So many people gave up time, money and many sleepless nights to help rescue those who were injured. To find the remains of those who had died and to clean up the destruction that was left behind.

My heart still aches for all those who were personally involved one way or the other. I still shed a tear when I think of the pain of those left behind.

It was a day like no other. A day no one would have ever thought would happen in our life time.

Yet, it was also a day we grew a bit stronger. A day I pray we will NEVER FORGET!
