I love the colors of yellow and blue together. There is something so refreshing about it. So today, I choose those colors to set my table with. Nothing fancy. Just simple. Yet pretty.
The shades on these places are a muted pale color. I just love them. I felt they fit in perfectly with the weather we have been having here in CA. Sunny, yet not very warm. Still a little bit of a chill in the air.
I didn't have any napkin rings to go with this setting (I KNOW!) so I just tucked the napkin in under the salad plate.
I like this look. It seems like all the magazines and stores are starting to do this with their napkins too.
Even though we are not going to have any company over, I still got out the real silver. I wanted a bit of shine brought to the table. It shows how you can mix expensive, fancy items with more plain items to make your tablescape look beautiful.
Here you can see the pattern on the plates. Even though they are plain in color, they are not plain in design.
The tablecloth and napkins are by April Cornell and I found them at TJ Maxx. I thought the colors in them were a great match for the plates.
The center piece is what inspired this whole tablescape really. I saw it and fell in love with color.
Of course, the little white Target, salt and pepper birds fit in nicely. A little touch of Spring! Plus the white is a nice pop of color on the table.
Here is a better look at that pitcher. I put flowers in but of course you could use it to serve iced tea, lemon aid or water.
The serving dishes are all white. I just went through what I already had and thought they all looked nice together so out they came. The food will be added at dinner time.
So there you have it! A simple, yet pretty tablescape.
I got the dinner and salad plates at TJ Maxx also. I just love that store. No I don't get paid to say that.
I'm linking this post up to Tablescape Thursday over at Between Naps on the Porch. If you have not yet done so, go take a look at all the other beautiful tablescapes over there. These ladies have some wonderful ideas!

Joanne, This is a pretty, pretty table. I knew the tablecloth was an April Cornell before you even told me. So lovely. You did a masterful job mixing the plates, napkins with the tablecloth. Everything is so well put together. It has a very soft and calm quality. And those little birds are an adorable touch.

Hi Joanne...
Your tablescape is lovely. I love how you used your napkins and yes, I have seen Susan BNOP do the same thing..however, you see I just got my new bunnies napkin rings this very day and I had to use them. I really HAD to use them! I had my new napkins done exactly like yours..but then the mailman came...so..there you have it!
:) Love and hugs,
Mona

Joanne, There is an Irish Dance School in Orange County. (Maybe more than one, but this is the first one I found online.)
It's called Butler Fearon Conner School of Irish Dance.
You could call them and ask if the kids were doing any performances this week near you. ( since it's St Pat's week, very very likely.)
Their phone number is 949-858-7977
It's me again! I just found another web site that will be more helpful!

There are things going on all over your area this weekend. You might want to call ahead and find out what time the dancers perform, because that is not to be missed!!
OOps, it didn't print out the whole website. Here it is again.

Wow, Your tablescape is beautiful. I can never get it all to come together so nicely! I also love the blue and yellow together. I have a blue and yellow coverlet on my bed!

This is such a beautiful tablescape for the springtime! Love the soft colors and I love the April Cornell linens! I love her products and miss her dresses and beautiful hats:) You asked a question about napkin etiquette. This wasn't my exact words, but: The fold of the napkin should be nearest the plate. However, that's not all that important. What is important is that the fold of the napkin is the same at every placesetting. If you have a napkin that looks better folded a different way because a monogram, pattern, et cetera, then the fold doesn't HAVE to be next to the plate. I hope I haven't confused you:)
From here in Australia, your table looks purfect...........now I MUST!! go back and take a look at some of the others you have designed.......Lee-ann
Hello Joanne,
You’re “Simple Yet Pretty” tablescape is Simply Beautiful! The tablecloth you used is called “Suriana Butter” from our Spring 2009 Nostalgia collection and it works beautifully to pull the colors of your setting together. The pale teal and antique white palette is a refreshing nod to spring and we love how you’ve used it here. Thanks for sharing such a pretty table!
Sincerely,
April Cornell
I love those colors! The plates, pitcher of flowers, silveware and the birds. So beautiful. Very inspiring.
Karin
I just purchased that tablecloth and napkins minutes ago! I am going to use them to glamp my camp. :) Just the right touch of spring, outdoors and sweetness without being too much of any, in my opinion.
