IT MUST BE SPRING... THE BIRDS ARE BACK

Just as it is in real life, when Winter comes the birds in my house go away. Then in Spring, they are back.

Lately, birds are starting to pop up all over my house.

Like this picture. I found it about a year and 1/2 ago at TJ Maxx and since I'm a bird lover, I couldn't pass it up.

This cute white bird was given to me as a gift. When I look at it I can't help but smile.

Looks like little baby birds are going to hatch here soon! I found this great bird cage at a thrift store and added the nest. I love it.

This sweet birds sits next to our tv. It almost ended up outside but I thought she was to cute to only see part time. So inside, she stays.

She is another TJ Maxx find.

A darling bird house welcomes all birds. This sits on top of our fireplace mantel.

I bought this a few years ago at Michaels.

Just like the bird house, this bird bath also sits on the fireplace mantel.

Sometimes it holds candy, but right now it's empty as candy is banned from our house.

It also came from Michaels.

This little bird house and bird is actually a little box that opens up. So sweet, isn't it?

Patty's friend gave it to her as a gift on her birthday last year.

I love this soup tureen with the little bird on top and the lattice work on the bottom. It's actually pretty small. Not big enough to hold the soup for the table. Though it's almost to big for one serving.

I don't really use it for soup. Though if I had more I would! Right now it is sitting on our dinning room table as part of the centerpiece.

I would love to find three more so I could use them for a luncheon or a tablescape. I doubt if I will ever find them though as I got it last year from TJ Maxx.

Here is a better look at the bird on top.

I have no doubt that more and more birds will be showing up at my house. After all, it is Spring now!

The real birds are showing up more and more too. I like to watch them taking a bath in the bird bath we have in the back yard.

We also have several humming birds that come eat out of the feeder back there.

Are you a bird lover too? Do you have birds around your house?

Oh, speaking of birds, I got several emails asking where I bought the little birds in the nest, place card holders I showed in my post the other day.

I found them on EBay. A favorite place for me to find most of my place card holders and napkin rings.

MY NEW 1930'S BIRD CAGE AND STAND

I'm in love! This bird cage has been something that I have been dreaming about getting for awhile. Well, not this exact one. But one like it.

A vintage bird cage on a stand! So when I got this one I was in Heaven.

The lady I got it from said it belonged to her grandmother from the 1930's. It had been passed down to her mother and then about 20 years ago her mother gave it her. Now she was "sick" of it and just wanted to "get it out of the house".

I was more then happy to take it off her hands. The best part was it was only $15.00. I couldn't believe it. I've seen these at antique stores for $150 and more.

I love the base of the stand.

At first I wasn't sure where I was going to put it. I didn't know if I should keep it inside so it didn't get destroyed by the weather or not. Should I paint it white and plant flowers in?

When I walked up to my front door it dawned on me! The perfect place for the bird cage was right there! I had been wanting something with height to go in this spot.

So I put the cage there to see if it would fit. It did. I like it. Though I think I need to move the little water fountain over.

I also like the black color as it stands out against our house which is pale yellow with white trim. Plus that area is covered so the weather won't destroy it.

I don't think I'm going to plant a little garden it it either. I may get a fake bird and put a little nest in the bottom or something. I just don't want to rust the cage by putting plants in it.

What do you think? Should I paint it? Keep it black? Should I plant a garden in it? Should I move the water fountain?

MY LATEST THRIFT STORE TREASURES

I came across this sweet little wire bird cage while browsing the thrift store. It did have a bunch of dirty raffia in the bottom and a big ugly bird glued inside.

I knew I would take those things out and toss them away.

I had this bird nest that I got at Tuesday Morning that fit inside just perfectly. It had flowers on the nest but I just clipped them off as they were to much.

I tied those flowers on the top of the cage to finish it off. Now it looks nice for spring.

I also found this lace runner. It is more of a cream or tea stained color. I thought it would look good with the rusty look of the wire cage.

It is in perfect condition too with no holes.

I was happy with my two treasure finds. I got the cage for $1.99 and the runner was $1.50 so that wasn't bad at all.

I did notice that now is the time to stock up on your holiday decor at the thrift stores. They had tons of Christmas, Halloween and Valentine's Day items. Some really cute things but I left them behind for others to snatch up. I am looking forward to spring right now and can't even think about those other holidays.
