I picked it up and boy was it heavy. I found out later it was 8 lbs! I turned it over and saw some Hallmarks on it. Then of course I did the magnet trick and it did not stick to it.
I had no idea if it was real silver or not but I knew that real or not I wanted it. So in my cart it went.
Look at how pretty and detailed it is. Of course this picture doesn't do it justice as everything was reflecting off of it.
I did some research and found out it is not sterling, only silver plated over copper. Then I did a bit more research and found it listed for sale for $220. So, even though it wasn't real silver it still was worth way more then then $25.00 I paid for it.
I've also developed a love for milk glass. Don't ask me why? I think it's because I've seen so many ladies in blogland who have collected Milk Glass and have it all displayed together. The whites look so nice in a big group.
Plus Milk Glass goes with everything!

I picked up the vase, the urn and the plate. There were more pieces for sale but I didn't care for them. I left them behind for someone else to treasure.
I think this urn is darling. I may put a little bird nest with some eggs on top for spring. Or I may put some pretty flowers in there once my garden starts to produce more for cutting.
I wanted this little plate because I have cloche jar and thought it would be perfect for under it. I have not tried it out yet to see if it fits but even if it doesn't I can use this for serving cookies or even to hold a candle.
Anyway, he had a post about collecting little pitchers to use for when you entertain and serve salads. You can put the dressing in these little vintage pitchers.
So, I picked this one up. I also thought it would be great for syrup for when we have company over breakfast or brunch.
I got this little pitcher after reading a posting on Eddie Ross blog. Have you ever read his blog? If not, you must go there. He used to work with Martha Stewart but now he is on his own. Wonderful tips and ideas can be found on his blog.

I was thrilled to find these pink depression glass glasses. Now to be honest I am not 100% sure if these are real or not. I do collect depression glass and am pretty good at being able to tell the real from the fake.
In either case, I couldn't pass these up. First of all they were pink! Plus they were only fifty cents. Well, they were marked .99 but they had 1/2 off green tags and these happen to have the green tags.
Real or fake, who cares. I like them and can't wait to serve some pink lemon aide in them this summer while we sit outside by the pool.
I'm leaning on thinking these are reproductions because they seem a little to thick to be real depression glass.

This was the last little item I got. It's such a pretty little dish. Though I have no idea what to do with it.
Don't you just love days when you find all kinds of treasures when you hit up the thrift stores. I do.
Well, I think I got my thrift store shopping fix taken care of. At least for the next few days or so.
Oh who am I kidding...I'll be stopping by the very next one I drive by. With new items being put out every day you never know what you will find.

Is milk glass for drinking milk out of ??? LOL
I know what you could do with that little blue saucer you could send it to me another LOL
Not sure on the glasses either. My dear sister told me once on how to tell the difference, but I can't remember. I'll ask.
Ciao
joanne, the pink glasses are my favorites.. they look so elegant. The tray was a great find.. kudos to you!!! I went shopping yesterday,,not for thift store finds, but for a prom dress for my daughter..post to come!
Boy you really hit the jackpot yesterday. I'm like you, I just love finding those special treasures when thrift shopping. I love milk glass, but have just started collecting it. I have found my best pieces in thrift shops. That plate looks adorable with ribbon woven through it! My dear friend has more pieces of milk glass than you can imagine and she did a wedding shower for my daughter with all milk glass. It was awesome! I'll have to try to post the pictures sometime. She also helped me do her graduation party from college when Lauren got her Master's degree and the table was set in all milkglass then too. I did post about that earlier. That silver tray is beautiful and so are your other finds. Keep on shopping. You never know what little treasure is out there waiting to go home with you!! Love & blessings from NC!
Milk glass makes beautiful candle holders - drop a tealight in and you will have a piece of the moon glowing just for you!

Oooh, you did it again! You always find the best things when you go thrifting.
I am in love with the pink glasses and the little dish with the pink flowers.
I'm so glad you're coming on Sat.
Hugs, Susan
Thrift store shopping is the one of my favorite things to do too! The silver tray is gorgeous. I don't think you can have too much silver. It's funny, I have the vase on the left and the plate in the center. I didn't realize they were milk glass. They were a gift from my great grandmother's collection. I'm always drawn to pink glass and anything with roses as well. What loveleigh treasures you found!
That tray is gorgeous! I am really loving those candlesticks with the "chandelier" dangles hanging off of them! Beautiful!
I love milk glass, too! I have a lovely milk glass cake pedestal that I love!
Wow, what a haul! How come when I go to the thrift store there's nothing but ugly, broken china? I love the little painted dish. I just started collecting painted dishes, and only have a few. Yours is certainly a keeper.
What nice treasures you have found. I love the silver tray, pink glass and milk glass.
Wow, I can just imagaine those pretty pink glasses catching the sunlight with lemonade in them. What a picture that would make. You made quite a nice haul for very little money and that's always the best. Thanks for sharing with us. xxoo
Went shopping today too..but...still have not found any Thrift stores nearby. So..same old store and did pick up a little rooster and hen. I got home and found a silver sticker on them that said "Royal Copley" and looked them up. Yep..got a deal! So..That pleased me.
YOU did fantastic today, Joanne. I am always so delighted with your finds! That tray is gorgeous..and personally I love silver plate! I have lots of it..and the only true silver I had went..well, you know that story.
Anyway..I bow to you oh GREAT shopper of bargains! LOL
Have a great rest of today and Monday.
Hugs,
Mona

Great finds!!! I love the platter, but the little blue dish with the roses just speaks to me.
Don't you just love Thrift stores?!
Oh my gosh everything you got is just so awesome! You got such a great deal on that tray, that is so great! Everything looks so cute displayed on the tray how are you ever going to decide what to put on it lol? I love it all!
All the best,
Allison
Wow WE you sure did hit the jack pot. I love the pink glasses they are so pretty. OH and the tray,,,, oh my gosh, just gorgeous.... I have not been to a thrift store for a while, I really need to go now... lol

I love all your treasures! That tray is beautiful! And the Pink glasses....I collect Milk Glass too...it looks wonderful if you put a little sand in the bottom of the vase...put a candle or two in there and light them at night...they glow...they're just beautiful!
Robin
I love all the items you found...especially the tray. We see a lot of those here in Maine at sales or Goodwills but not as lovely as yours. The pink in the glasses appears too crisp for an older set at least in the photos. Do they have a two or three piece mold line? Gene Florence has books out there to be able to tell the fakes...maybe online too. I think they are beautiful anyway and I love the way you decorate!
Hi Joanne,
Thank you for stopping by, I appreciate it very much. It is shocking but that word and more are used on a very regular basis.
You are a great treasure hunter- wonderful finds.
I don't know if you are interested but I have a giveway going on through the end of the week. I'd love for you to sign up.
hugs,
Barb
Hi Joanne,
WOW great deals at the thrift store. The ones I go to..haven't had anything good to buy and they are busy with "dealer's" buying things to resell( how dare they!!) so I'm not getting the good stuff !! LOL
I have enough at home!!
Have fun with making the birdie in the shoe for the shower. It was fun and so easy.
