A CINCO de MAYO FIESTA!!

Happy Cinco de Mayo! It's time to get the bright colors out, have some great Mexican food and turn up the music.

Cinco de Mayo is starting to become a much more popular reason to celebrate these days. The stores are offering more and more party supplies and items for your tablescapes.

Here in So. CA we have a large population of Hispanic people. Perhaps that is why.

So, while I don't normally celebrate this holiday, I thought I would this year and I'm making enchiladas, Spanish rice and beans. Mexican food is my favorite!

It all started when I first saw these glasses at the Dollar Tree. I thought they were just to cute to pass up.

The funny thing is I saw a set of four Libby glasses at Kohl's for $16.00. They looked just like these but I thought perhaps they were better quality then the ones I purchased for only a dollar each.

Then when I got home and was washing them I noticed they were the same glasses, only not in the box. These were Libby glasses too.

The bright colored tablecloth seemed to be a perfect fit for my celebration and I purchased it at Target. On sale of course!

I had the big yellow pitcher. I got it awhile ago at TJ Maxx. The plates I already had. A turquoise blue dinner plate and a bright red salad plate says "let's party to me". How about you?

You can find great plates at thrift stores. Solid plates are always a good purchase as you can use them in hundreds of different tablescapes.

For napkins, I found these dish towels at the Dollar Tree and since they had stripes of the bright colors I was using I thought they would be great to use as napkins. Nice and big as Mexican food can sometimes be messy.

Small little maracas at each place setting makes a cute little favor for everyone to remember the night with.

At night the table seems to change colors. More dark, rather then so bright.

Little bright colored votives provide a nice sparkle of light when the candles are lit.

I like the glow of the candles and the rays of light that shine on the table.

I did it! I caught the Blue Hour in my photo! I waited and waited until the right time. I didn't think I would be able to capture it as I was not using a nicer camera. But I did.

I just love the glow of the deep blue sky at night. I only wish you could see this with the naked eye. I guess we could all walk around looking at the night with our camera.

For more info on what the Blue Hour is and how to capture it yourself go here.

I'm hooking up to Tablescape Thursday at Between naps on the Porch. I love reading about every one's beautiful tablescapes and I'm sure if you go there, you will too.

Have a wonderful day today. Remember, any day can be a great day to celebrate, even if it's normally not a holiday you celebrate.

Ole'.
