IS IT REALLY WEDNESDAY ALREADY?

Well, this week flew by for me. How about you? I guess with planning Trinity's party and then being sick I didn't really have much time for anything else.

So here we are, it's Wednesday and that mean it's time for A BETTER ME post.

I hope everyone has been doing really well. I've only gotten four emails from you ladies with your weight loss. So those four ladies plus me had a big 20 lb loss! Not bad huh?

Sounds like everyone is doing super. Keep up the good work because as long as you keep trying you WILL reach your goal. As soon as you give up you give up your chance of succeeding.

Even if you have a bad day or end up eating things you shouldn't it doesn't matter. Just start back up with the next meal. Just because you have a set back doesn't mean you must give up completely.

I have to admit I didn't get much exercise in at all this week. I just felt pretty yucky all week and then finally my body gave up the fight and I got pretty sick. I've been in bed for two days. I have no energy to even walk from room to room let alone go for a long walk or work out.

But, as soon as I feel better I'm going to get back to several days of exercising.

How about you? Did you find a chance to exercise more? I should say did you MAKE the time to exercise more. Tell me about it. What did you do?

Something I did different this week then last week was I ate all the time! I didn't eat three big meals. I just snacked and nibbled all day. I was never hungry. I had no cravings. It was great.

I had heard you should eat several small meals a day to keep your body burning fat. I think it must have worked. Even without any real exercise I lost another 5 lbs.

To be honest I didn't think I would lose anything because it really didn't feel like I was on a diet at all. I did eat all healthy things though. Lots of fruits, veggies, beans and for a sweet treat I had those 100 calorie packs of cookies.

Speaking of those 100 calorie packs. Have you tried them? They are the smallest little things I've ever seen. Looks like food you would serve to an American Girl Doll. They are so cute. I think it makes them more fun to eat. Plus they taste good! My cupboard is now full of little boxes with treats just waiting for me.

I have limited myself to one package a day though. Knowing me, I could eat all of them and end up gaining weight.

Now it's your turn. Tell us what you did last week or what you are doing this week to keep on track! Did you try a new recipe? How about just a new fruit or veggie?

Oh, one more thing I wanted to share before I go back to bed is I'm hooked on Pomegranates. I used to like them as a kid but I had not had one for 20 years or so. I did have pomegranate juice and even made pomegranate jelly. But not just a fresh pomegranate. They are great! They taste good and they take a while to eat. Keeping your hands busy for awhile. Plus of course, they are very good for you.

So the next time you are at the store pick one up and put it in your cart. Try it and let me know what you think of it.

Keep up the great work and don't forget... this year we WILL do it!

  1. Aren't Pommies great??!! I love 'em. Just discovered them a few weeks ago, they were 69 cents at Wal-mart, so I gave them a whirl. Love 'em in spinach salad! Want to make a smoothie sometime out of them. They look like little jewels.
The only darn exercise I've had since beginning the Better Me Group is shoveling snow! It's been several times a day this week, trying to keep up with it. Today...it's an all day blizzard, so it may be a lost cause, but I'll go out anyway to move a little. Take care!

  2. I'm keeping track of everything I eat. I didn't realize how much I was eating before. Geez, no wonder I was overweight! Yesterday we ate lunch at Sizzler. I had the 6 oz. steak (which I cut in half) and salad and veggies. I did have garlic cheese bread and 2 chocolate chip cookies and counted them into my points. The rest was healthy. The points make it like a budget so I could spend a little extra.

  3. That is great news, 20lbs

Here's a trick for Pomegranates. Cut them in half and take a large spoon and pound them, the gold will fall out from the pounding.

I will have to start something soon myself. I bought a weighted vest to walk in. So, baby steps for me.

    ciao

  4. I must confess, I haven't even thought about this group lately, I had real good intentions to start this and stick to it, but I think my age has something to do with it, I'll be turning 50 this June and for the last 3 months, I'm finding myself SO tired, just worn out for no reason? I don't really eat bad, I could use more veggies and I don't eat fruits at all? I'd really love to lose 30 lbs. but not at this rate!I think I'm closing in on menopause, would explain the mood swings too? Don't give up on me, I still want to do something, eat better. Does anyone else have the same problem and nearing menopause, is there a way out? lol

  5. Hello Joanne
Sorry to hear you are not well. I hope you are feeling better soon.
You and your friends sound to be doing great with your weight loss.
I wish I had chance to exercise more. I used to walk my daughter to and from school everyday which was great exercise but now she is at another school we have to drive. My car was in the garage for servicing today and I walked home after taking it there. I really enjoyed the walk although it was cold and frosty. The sun was just breaking through and it was one of those lovely fresh and crisp winter mornings.

  6. I am making a point to eat more fruits and veggies as snacks.

I give those 100 calorie packs to my daughters. They love them. So do I. I have in the past gorged on many.

  7. Hi Joanne... Well, I should be hitting that treadmill I've been talking about, but I haven't. Thankfully I was down 2 lbs. this week due to watching what I put in my mouth. Everyone wanted manwiches/sloppy joe's tonight, so I fixed that for the family but I grilled myself a huge portabella cap and had that on a Country Kitchen Light Wheat bun with fresh avocado and a little horseradish mayo. Now that was good!!! ... Donna @ An Enchanted Cottage

  8. I am so sorry you are under the weather Joanne! And you can't talk no less! How sad is that?
Wow! Great weight loss for the group. I feel so motivated to stay eating healthy! Ok, I need a lesson on pomegranates. Do you eat the whole thing or parts of it? It's really a foreign fruit to me. I know the benefits are very good from them.
My dear friend Cindy may want to join our Healthy Me program so I'm going to give her your email if that's ok. Let me know.
The birthday party looked awesome! You go all out girl!! Trinity had to be so happy with everything!
    Feel better sweet friend,
    Big Hugs, Sherry

  9. Thanks for stopping by and inviting to your group.
I walked about 2 blks and very briskly. It was to cold to stay out any longer.
I ate a subway cut in half for lunch and will really watch what I eat the rest of the day.
I am going to get me some 100 cal treats so when hubby eats his night snack I will not have to do total without.
    Thanks
    Sharon
May I add you to my list?
