Some of you may remember when I posted about planting a Victory Garden. Well, my thoughts were good. Much better then my actions really.
However, I did plant a few things. Now that things are growing, I wish I had planted much more.
My blackberries are doing great. They are not ready to pick yet but should be soon. I was able to pick a few that were ripe and boy oh boy are they ever good! So sweet and juicy.
My tomatoes are doing great. I've only gotten one red one so far but as you can see, there will be lots more real soon. There is NOTHING like fresh home grown tomatoes. The ones at the store are not very good.
When you grow your own they so full of flavor.
My tiny basil plant is doing super. It's grown so much bigger then when I first got it. Perfect with fresh tomatoes and mozzarella cheese.
The rosemary is going crazy. Good thing I didn't put it in the ground or it would have taken over. I think pots are best for most herbs. Unless of course, you really want a lot. With only the two of us here, keeping them in the pots are best.
Our plum tree isn't doing that great this year. It seems like every other year we get a big crop of plums and then the next year only a few.
That's really all in my garden as far as food right now. I was going to plant more but my sister, Maureen, planted a lot and she brings tons of things to us. Like, green beans, zucchini, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and hopefully we will get a pumpkin or two when they are ready.
The flowers are doing wonderful. The gardenias are smelling like heaven. I love when they are in full bloom.
I didn't really plant a lot of new flowers this year. I did plant these bright yellow daisies and they are growing like wild flowers.
I also planted these beautiful Columbine flowers. They must really like the spot they are in because they are blooming and giving us more flowers then I ever dreamed of.
Our Fuschia is doing great too. I don't know why but I have a big soft spot in my heart for these flowers. I think they remind of being a kid and popping them. I really should get more of these as they come in so many pretty colors and they make me so happy.
This plant just grows and grows. No matter what you put it through, hot, cold, wet or dry it will grow and kick out these pretty flowers in different shades of pink
My first rose bush is doing lovely. Still giving me roses upon roses. I really like this rose too. Not sure what it was called. But it's different looking then most roses.
The white roses are popping out flowers like you wouldn't believe. I love how these roses go through different looks as they age and open up bigger to finally revile a bright yellow center.
I can't remember the name of this flower either. I'm so bad with the names. But I love these little purple flowers. Right now they are only blooming around the edges of the plant. It looks like it is forming a crown or halo.
The bright double impatiens do great here. They don't ever really die off. So we don't have to replace them every year.
But, I can see we need to get out there and pick off the dead flowers.
We have several Hydrangeas growing in both the front and back gardens. This is the only purple one that is blooming right now. Our other one is just the green leaves. The flowers should pop up soon. It doesn't get as much soon so it always blooms later then the others.
One of our pink Hydrangeas has the perfect spot. It gets big every year and produces more flowers then I could hope for.
Well, that's about it for my summer garden right now. As I was typing up this post I really got in the mood to go get more plants and get them in the ground.
While we do have lots more flowers, bushes and trees then I have shown, I figured showing only a few at time will keep you from getting bug eyes.
So tell me, how is your garden growing?
So pretty! What nice eye candy to come home to everyday!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so amazing, the hydrangas are just gorgeous. I planted several rose bushes this year and hydrangia - hoping they will be as abundant as yours. If you have a moment stop by my blog for a wonderful give away! www.tresorsmarche.blogspot.com Erin

Your garden looks great! I took the kids cherry picking (in an orchard) and they picked 18 lbs. of cherries! I pitted about a third of them and I plan on making some Cherry Vanilla ice cream and some Cherry Crisp.
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks so gorgeous! Absolutely beautiful. The basil is so good when you grow it yourself.
