No, I can't tell you yet. You will just have to come along for the ride and wait to see it when it is all finished.
So, now I'm looking for your help in picking the floor. I know I want white hexagon subway tiles.
I'm thinking maybe all white with maybe a small border of black. I'm not sure if I like this look with the square white tiles on the side of the black though. Do you?
This photo is just being used as an example of the kind of tiles I want. This are from the 20's I believe. Could be the 30's I'm not sure.
Back then they used grey in between the tiles but I think I would go with all white as the grey makes it look dirty to me.
I was thinking of maybe adding some black in between the white but I'm not sure. Do you think it gives it to much of a polka dot look?
Maybe just not so many black tiles?
Yes, I think it's to polka dot looking with this many black tiles.
What about little flowers made out of the black tiles?
It's so hard trying to pick out what I really want. I have an over all look in my head but to get down to the tiny details is driving me nuts.
So again, I ask for your help. Which look do you think would be best?
Thanks everyone. I hope you know I'm going to call my bathroom my blogger bathroom as everyone is helping me pick out just the right look!

Hi again, Joanne.
ReplyDeleteI actually like the polka-dot look, but would hesitate as well using them in an all-over pattern. If your bathroom floor is large enough, maybe instead of the rectangle border with the octagon white tiles/white grout (I agree, gray looks dirty), how about a polka-dot border and all white center? Or vice-versa?
I really like the dots more than the flower pattern.
Just my 2 cents!
Still can't wait to see the after!
ps. I SO felt for you on the cake post. I, too, take on cake "jobs" from time to time and a ton when I lived down in your neck of the woods. It always sounds fun at the onset. The excitement and the challenge over-takes the reality of it all - especially on the large jobs. I only regret that I didn't meet you when I lived down there. We would have had fun - ghost hunting, cake decorating, treasure hunting....

I'm partial to the very first picture but YOU have to live with it, sugar, so do what you love. Can't miss there!

I like the addition of the little black tiles as well. Just spread out more.. no flowers!!...just a dash here and there to give it some texture and some place to rest your eyes amoung all the white... black really helps. Stay away from the flowers and too many tiles... dotty is a no go. Good Luck Joanne...
ReplyDeleteI am sorry...I cannot help you pick the floor if I do not know what sink you picked. SO there!

Hi Joanne; Love the tiles you picked, I would have to say that I like the first one with the black stripe. It seems to add just a bit of accent with out being overwhelming. Just what I think but what ever you choose it will be beautiful,,,, love the name of your bath,, how sweet you are..

I like the first tile floor with a black border. I love dots, but it is too much on this floor, I think. I think the flowers might get too busy. Things are coming along. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteLove & blessings from NC!
I like only a random black tile here and there... no pattern. Ooooo, this is all coming together nicely in my head! Thanks for letting us all have so much fun with you. You know, only gals get the whole "window shopping" thing. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's your bathroom but I actually like the polka-dot look! I just think it's really cute. If not the dots then the stripe!
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
Allison
I think the one with the black line is my choice. It looks more retro to me. I've seen bathrooms like that in the movies of the 30's and 40's.
ReplyDeleteCiao
I love the tile you choose but if it were me, I'd add the little black flowers to the mix, it just adds the 20's feel to it. Can't wait to see it all done!
ReplyDeleteHi Joanne
ReplyDeleteI would choose plain white tiles for the floor. I think it would seem calmer and more spacious somehow.
We are planning new bathrooms too. I feel like I am going around in circles with it all at the moment.

I just found your blog and I love it. I am a follower now.
ReplyDeleteI love the tiles. I would go for the solid white though. The black dots are too much.
I love the white hexagon all the way. Maybe try for all black tiles on the square border instead of white with the black trim? Otherwise, no black at all, just white. xxoo
ReplyDeleteSo many great choices! It is very difficult when it gets down to the little details. That has got to be the most difficult part of a project.
ReplyDeleteI will say though that the first picture on top made my mouth fall open. Gorgeous! The varying tiles, the stripe of black......WOW!
Good luck! I can't wait to see the final results. I LOVE bathroom remodels.
Heather:)
