HELP ME WITH BABY BOY SHOWER IDEAS

A friend of mine just found out she is having a baby boy! I'm helping plan her baby shower.

I've been searching and have seen so many cute ideas and themes that I'm having a hard time picking which ones to go with.

That is where you come in. I know there are many many great party planners, craft makers and creative women out there in blog land.

So, I'm asking for your help. If you have given a baby shower or been to one that you felt was different or unique can you share the ideas with me. What fun themes for a baby boy can you think of?

I want this shower to be a WOW type shower for her. I don't want the normal baby blue shower.

If you have pictures or links I would love to see them.

I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. Thanks for your help!

  1. Girls are easy: froufrou-y pink.
Boys are blue I think! Haven't a clue, chick, but some handmade bibs and booties are always appreciated, especially since they are handmade.

  3. "snakes and snails and puppy dog tails that's what little boys are made of! Okay, maybe that is a bit much, but what about trucks and tractors! A cute gift I received for my daughter was a doll stroller filled with baby neccessities. I changed it a bit for a friend who adopted a little boy, and gave her a toy dump truck filled with jars of baby food. That idea could be used for centerpieces, serving dishes. (can you see a salad served in a toy hard hat, or olives in a front-end loader?) Just a couple of thoughts. . .maybe it will help!

  4. hi Joanne
How about a 'Teddy Bears Picnic' baby shower. You could have red and white table covers as 'picnic blankets' and card cut outs of trees. The music 'If you go down to the woods today...' could be playing in the background. The food could be themed on bears. You could use a bear shaped cookie cutter for bear shaped sandwiches and cookies. You could buy small baskets which could be made into 'picnic' baskets. They could be filled with either the picnic food or gifts/treats such as a mini bear for the guests to take home.
I have only ever been to one baby shower as we are only just starting to have them in England. I did see a celebrity one on TV for a little girl and that was Alice in Wonderland. That was what gave me the Teddy Bears Picnic idea when I read your post.
I look forward to hearing about what you decide. Have fun. Your themed parties are always amazing.

  5. Do you know what the baby nursery theme is? Maybe you could coordinate the shower theme with the little nursery..I had 2 boys (now 22 and 19) and so much has changed, to say the least. Maybe cute cuddly teddy bears with vintage colors...robins egg blue, yellow, soft browns.
I do have some baby boy gifts in my etsy shop and everything can be customized, too. www.lynnslovelies.etsy.com

    Have fun:), Lynn

  6. Well... we have had a Circus theme baby shower with lots of balloons and things that were Circus type things we made. Like a poster circus train with animals and a ticket booth on one of the doors. We gave everyone little striped bags of popcorn to munch on when they came in. The hostesses dressed up like ring masters with top hats and at the end we made everyone put on a squishy clown nose to have their photo taken with the new mom. This mom was having a boy.
I love the stork themes with a big stork for a centerpiece. One of the ladies at church was having a baby & I needed to do several centerpieces for tables. I had vintage planters from when I was born and my boys were born. So I collected more from local thrift stores and made everyone with different pastel silk flowers. They turned out so adorable and the new mom absolutely loved them & how different they were.

  7. I have an idea that's come to mind, that can be applied in a couple ways. I was thinking about doing a tutorial on it. A baby wash cloth rose, The washcloths are formed to look like a rose attached to a stem. This can be used for making a single stem or bouquet as a centerpiece and then gifted to the mother.

Themed showers are the usual. It helps in the decorating.

  9. Hi Joanne,
Thanks for your recent comments on my blog! Lucky you...hosting a baby shower! I LOVE throwing showers. When I think of a boy shower I think of vintage boy toys...trucks, blocks, ect. New toys would work too. I wouldn't go too crazy on decorations, keep the focus on the food and the mommy to be. I think classic old Golden Books are a fun theme too. For a girl shower I created a clothesline with some cute clothes and socks. They were decorations, but also gifts for the mommy to take home. Oh, and don't forget the party favors! Large, home-made, decorated sugar cookies are always fun! Can't wait to see the photos of your fun event...good luck! Kathi
