IT'S MY LIFE
I know I've been gone for ages. Life has been super busy and I just have not had time to take pictures and post about what has been going on. That, plus I've been rethinking about my blog.
The thing is, I cleaned out my garage last week and had a garage sale this weekend. As I was getting ready it hit me and hit me hard how much stuff I bought. Things I bought just to use for my blog and taking photos.
Dishes, dishes and more dishes. Of course that means glasses, flatware, napkins, tablecloths and everything else that goes with it.
Party supplies. Boxes and boxes of party supplies that were used just for one party and then packed away.
OK, I admit, I love throwing parties and making everything just so so. I'm sure I will still do that.
But, to buy dishes, just so I can join in on pretty tablescapes or to set a table just for some photos. What was I thinking?
I often times feel like in order to have a fun blog you have to do what the "in" thing is right now. If you don't, then no one will want to read your blog.
I've spent way to much money just trying to keep up with other blogs. I don't want to do that any more. I'm not going to do that any more. I can't afford to.
I love to go to thrift stores as much as the next person but I find I buy things that I like, only I don't have a place to use them or even store them so they end up in the garage. Still in the bags and tags on them. Then I sell them at a garage sale for pennies.
I don't want to stop blogging. I started this blog as a way for me to look back on my life and see what I've done over the years. It's changed over the years. It got away from me.
So now, I'll post about my daily life. Some may find it dull and never want to come back. Some may find it fun and comforting to see they are not the only ones who can't or won't be keeping up with the Joneses.
I don't have a thrilling, fast paced life. I have a life where I'm happy. I'm loved and I'm blessed. I have a life full of family and friends that I adore and spend my time with. My life is full of little girls that form my girl scout troop. My life has two dogs that are spoiled rotten. My life has very very little stress. My life is mine.
I'm going to start sharing with you that life. I hope you enjoy it. I may only have a short post. I may not say much of all. But, I'll still be here.
I know I don't need lots of things. I don't need to pretend to be something I'm not. I can be me and still have a wonderful and lovely life.
I am crafty but I'm not like some of these women who have such talent they make you wish you could craft 24 hours a day.
I love to travel, but I can't afford to go to some of the beautiful places a lot of bloggers get to go to. But, I do live in So. CA and it's a lovely place right here.
I know I love seeing what day to day life is like in other states. So I'm thinking some of you may like to see what day to day life is here.
So from now on, what you see is what you get. It's my life. Come along for the ride.
This such a special and heartfelt post! I'm sure lots of bloggers feel this way more often than not and I'm one of them! Thank you for sharing! I'm not sure if you know it but you have a wonderful talent for writing that makes what you say very interesting. I'm happy to continue to follow your blog (though I'm afraid my busy life does not allow me time to post many comments) and see what your "everyday" life is like. We should all count our blessings!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for providing me a little time of self reflection here this evening.
DD
Looking forward to learning more about you!!
ReplyDeleteI love this post, and how lucky are we to live here?!!! Seriously, my girls played in the hose earlier today and now it's nearly 9:30pm in March and my windows are all still opened.
ReplyDeleteBlogs don't have to be just the amazing stuff...it's the day to day things that add up to our real stories-real life.
Are you attending the Pat Nixon/GS 100 year celebration on Sunday? My girls and I going later-it's CRAZY first thing, though the opening is always nice.
Hi dear Joanne!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! It's been a long road of blogging and coming up with ideas and "stuff" to post about. I have come to a slow down in what I do and post. We are tweaking our condo and doing some things around here for updates and decorating etc or I wouldn't have any ideas for posts anymore. So I can fully understand what you are saying. Especially now that we have 2 grands that are 5&6 and they are in our lives on a regular basis. That doesn't leave loads of time for the blog world.
I realize what you went through with the garage sale. When we downsized to a condo...OMG... we got rid of soooo much STUFF! Now every purchase has a purpose and a place to live when not in use!! No more huge basement to store all the "stuff" so I have to be VERY creative on organization and storage.
My heart is right there with you on this issue. And you know I will still be visiting you. Not as much as I used to in the olden days but still a forever fan of yours!
Love & hugs, sherry
I feel bad that you felt you had to keep up with the latest and buy things to blog about. We're here because we like you - a lot! Keep on posting and we'll keep on reading. I am so glad you decided to ease up on yourself! best, stephanie
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way, Joanne. My blog may be boring to some, but my reason for blogging is to keep a journal of my life and what I do for fun and my every day life. I am just inviting others to share it. You shouldn't feel obligated to anyone for the content of your blog, after all, it's yours. Have fun with it!
ReplyDeleteI pretty much had to give up on the whole "keeping up" and "what's hot" posting a while back. It just wasn't what I needed to write about. I rarely have time for crafting or decorating, so why try to make people think I do? And, hey, I only have one set of dishes, so I'm never going to be a tablescaper! It's all about being real, being yourself; and it is much more rewarding when you let go of trying be like everyone else. Each of us has a unique voice and that is what we should share with the world!
ReplyDeleteGarden fulfill with colorful flowers. It really increase beauty in the gardens.Flower pics look so beautiful.

This is a well-timed post for me. I think I've done all the tablescaping I can manage with the dishes I own, and I do NOT need any more dishes, table linens, etc.! I guess we'll see how many followers stick with us as we move to a different focus for our blogs! Best wishes!
