I LOVE BIRDS

I love birds and anything to do with birds. I don't have a real bird though. I used to. I've had parakeets, cockatiels, finches and even a Cockatoo.

I would love to have a bird again someday. A lot of people don't like them as pets because they are pretty messy and really do require a lot of work. Some big birds can live longer then humans.

Today, I noticed that I have little bird things around both, inside and outside. So, I thought I would share them with you. I don't have pictures of everything because it would way to long of a post but you will get the idea of my love for birds and everything to do with them. Here is a cute little Cherub holding a bird. They sit outside on our fence.
One of many birdhouses.
A birdbath that I got on clearance at Lowe's for only $12.00. My plan is to make a mosaic bird bath out of this. I have some broken china pieces already. Now, I just need to get the nerve up to try and make it look pretty.
St. Francis stands in our garden. He is holding a bird.
A hanging birdbath. This needs to be moved because, as you can see, it hangs crooked and only holds 1/2 the amount of water as it should.
I got this off of eBay.
Another little bird house. It's made of metal.
Another bird bath sits in our garden. You can see yet another bird house in the background.

This little bird sits in the bird bath. My sister's friend gave it to her as a present. We thought it looked cute in the birdbath.

What do you think? Do you like it in there?
An old rustic unpainted wooden birdhouse sits in a pot of flowers.
This little rusted bird stand used to have small glass vases that you could put flowers in. Sadly they broke. But I still love the stand and want to find some small glass candle holders to fit in there.

Here is little birdhouse I got from Joann's clearance section not to long ago. It sits in a big pot that has a tree in it.
This is another birdhouse. I love how the paint is all chippy. It goes with the bench.
When I saw this little beach cherub with the birds on him I just had to get him. Where? Why our favorite place...TJ Maxx.
This hanging birdbath is so pretty. The blue glass shines in the sun. I also got this one from eBay. I don't know why but I've never seen one bird go to this even though we put fresh water in there daily.
The hummingbirds love this feeder. It's just a cheep one. We got a really pretty one made out of brass and colored glass but they wouldn't eat from it. So this one got put back up.

It's more important to feed the little birds then to have something pretty hanging outside.

Inside has lots of bird things too. Like my pink chippy painted bird candle holders.
This birdhouse with a little bird who loves to greet everyone who walks by.

I love this cute little hand painted bird nest picture. It's up in my bedroom. Yes, you have seen this in blogland before. I bought it from our fellow blogger Laurie at Laurie's Charming Designs.
You can find her here http://lauriescharmingdesigns.blogspot.com/ She has such cute things in her shop.
I've had this wire birdcage for years. I need to hang it up. It's now in my bedroom on the floor. I want to paint it and hang it up. I think I'm going to put a little bird nest inside and maybe some ribbon on top or flowers.
Even the clock in our bathroom has birds.
A little birdbath with birds sits in our living room.
This little guy is in my bedroom. Yes, you are getting tiny little peeks into my bedroom. It's not finished so I can't show it to you but you can guess how it's going to look.

I don't know how you all do your room make overs so fast. I've been trying to gather things for months and I'm still not done. I also need to paint the walls.

Well, I home you enjoyed seeing a few of my birds and things. I had fun showing them to you.

You still have time to sign up for my Romantic Homes Giveaway but hurry, time is running out.

Hugs,

Joanne

  1. Hi Joanne,
I love birds too...but don't think I've got as many as you! I do collect birdhouses though and have found it is a cheap and inexpensive way to decorate my porch! Of course no birds can actually build in these, so I have a few out in the garden too!

Love what you did with the pink box in the post below!

  2. Hi Joanne!
I love all your bird items and the birdhouses too! One of my favorite things when sitting outside is watching the birds flying and listening to their songs. It's so sweet. I'm attracted to anything with birds or nests on them. I saw some really cute birds at Kohl's the other day and Wes said "Oh please, we have enough birds!" So I refrained...

And would you believe I left that cute antique store with nothing? I now wish I would have gotten the red hat case. Oh well, another day.

    Hugs, Sherry

  9. Hi Joanne,
That was fun, seeing your little birdies and birdhouses. I had a couple of finches and was down to 1 last year and I went to visit a girlfriend for the weekend and husband forgot to put the food back in the cage and you know the rest of that story. He felt very bad, even thou he doesn't really like birds. I enjoyed his little singing.. :) I am looking forward to seeing your bedroom makeover :)
    Warmly, Deb

For that bird cage, I saw a suggestion recently on a blog that sounded cute...I think it was Rue who suggested it...stack some books in the cage with a clock on top...sounds neat! That's a great cage you have :)

  13. Hi Joanne,
I love your sweet birds and things. I am also a birdlover! I live about an hour from Rockport where the Hummer/Bird Celebration is held in September during the hummer migration! It is fabulous. We also inherited a bird figurine collection from my husbands grandmother!

  18. I loved looking at all your bird/bird items photos! I, too, am a bird lover and have four parrots but equally enjoy the ones outside. Maybe we should start a "show us your birds" community post!

  21. Hey Joanne,

I LOVE Them....especially the bird IN the birdbath, he looks well loved.

As for the mosaic thing...GO FOR IT! I did the roof to my old bird house in mosaic. It is less than perfect but that is the JOY of cottage style. It works!
