Well I made it to the thrift store and low and behold my headboard was still there! I was thrilled. I had been dreaming about it all night. But, sadly it was a king size and since I only have a queen it wasn't going to work for me.
I ended up getting another one. Not as nice but I think once I add the wreath applique and get it painted it will work out just fine. If not, well then I will just find another one to do. After all the headboard only cost me $3.00.
I rushed over to Home Depot and took out my list and quickly started to fill up my basket with all the supplies I was going to need to start painting. I also picked out a few flowers and ivy to put in my thrift store wire baskets that I got the other day.
The sales clerk rang me up and said "that will be $146.12". What! I almost fell over. Yikes, the headboard wasn't that cheep after all. However, the supplies will allow me to do many many projects so I was to upset after I thought about that. I also bought a humming bird feeder and some salt for our soft water so it really wasn't that much.
I put the plants outside, got a cold drink (it's still hot here) and took about a 15 minute rest. Then I headed outside to plant.
Oh no! My flowers were already wilting. I was a bit worried but I soaked them and they are coming back just fine now that it is cooling down for the evening and they had a nice big drink.
You can see the photos above. The one hanging basket can be seen in the photo with the hydrangea and then the other hanging one has the little cherub I got the other day. I think it looks cute there. How about you?
Hi Joanne, I am so glad you came over to visit. Your day at the thrift store sounds like a good one! I want to see your headboard when it's all done. I'm at that point in life when things are going out the door..but having a headboard would be nice!! It hasn't been high on my list. Maybe you will inspire me. And, I love the wire basket!! Putting flowers in fun containers is a favorite for me!! Thanks for all to look at!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. You make me wish I had stopped at a Thrift Store while on vacation. Not that I would want to bring a headboard home ( I already have one thank you), but those wire baskets look nice. Reminds me that I have some in the shed somewhere.
ReplyDeleteIf you go to "C'est La Vie" in Laguna watch out for the dessert prices. My friend had a tart and coffee and it was almost as much as my salad. Too bad my friend is not a big shopper or I would have gone in a feew more shops.
Wow those plants and your garden look beautiful. I can't wait to see your headboard when it's finished! I love mine but I'm always looking at the thrift stores for a better one!
ReplyDeleteIt's hot here today too! It must be all of California! I hope this doesn't mean we are going to have a hot summer!
Hi Joanne

Hi Joanne,
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog. I love blogging, I have met so many wonderful new friends. Cindy at My Romantic Home has some beautiful ideas and I enjoy her blog as well. Hey, I see you decorate cakes, so I bet you loved my pics huh? I cannot take credit for the cakes. These were copied on the web. I wish I could decorate cakes like that. Anyway, my decorating is focused on the interior and exterior of my house and not cakes. Have a wonderful day and please stop back.
Hugs,
LeAnn :)
